Birding in Himachal

Day 0: Departure from U.K

Day 01: Arrive Delhi

Upon arrival at Delhi International airport meet with our representative and transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 02: Delhi Kalka - Parwanoo Kasauli

Early morning transfer to the Railway station to board the train for Kalka. Upon arrival meet with our representative and drive to Kasauli. En-route we will stop for birding in Parwanoo. Further continue drive to Kasauli. Upon arrival check into the hotel.Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 03: Kasauli Solan - Chail

Stat a little early for birding in Kasauli, here we will be able to lack-chinned Babblers, Verditer Flycatchers, Red-billed Blue Magpie, Red-billed Leothrix, Grey Bushchat, nuthatch species, Bar-tailed Treecreeper, Striated Prinias, Jungle Owlet etc. Later in the afternoon leave for Cahail. En-route we will stop for birding in Solan. Further continue drive to Chail. Upon arrival check into the hotel. After fresh-n-up we will be looking for bird around the hotel. Overnight stay in chail.

Day 04: Chail-Narkanda

Awake a little early and then we will be birding in Chailto find the common species such as blue whistling thrush, large billed crow, green backed and great tit, grey-hooded warbler, russet sparrow, wire-tailed swallow, khalij pheasant, oriental hobby etc. Later after breakfast drive to Narkanda, en-route we will visit Kufri zoo with some birding here. Further continue drive to Narkanda. Upon arrival check into the hotel. After fresh-n-up enjoy birding in Narkanda, here we can find Indian blue robin, brownish-flanked bush warbler, Himalayan griffon, large hawk cuckoo, black and yellow grosbeak, spotted nutcracker, greenish and lemon-rumped warbler, ultramarine and Asian brown flycatcher, Eurasian blackbird etc.Overnight stay at Narkanda.

Day 05: Narkanda

Full day birding around Hatu peak.Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 06: Narkanda-Sangla

Morning drive to Sangla (2900 m / 7 hr.) through the breathtaking gorges of the Greater Himalayas.Upon arrival check in to the guest house / tents.Evening bird walk around Sangla. One can expect brown dipper, common raven, European goldfinch, fire-fronted serin, lesser cuckoo, booted eagle, dark sided flycatcher, western crowned warbler, tree pipit etc. Overnight in guest house / tents.

Day 07 & 08Sangla

Drive leisurely to Chitkul (2 hr.) stopping for birding en route. Chitkul is the last inhabited village surrounded by green fields and high mountain peaks. For birders the special ones are red-headed bullfinch, white-winged grosbeak, gold crest, pink-browed and beautiful rosefinch, slaty blue flycatcher, white-tailed rubythroat, rufous vented &rufous napped tit, spot winged tit, whit-cheeked nuthatch, blue-capped redstart, brambling etc. The quaint little houses, temples, gompas and the people of Baspa valley conjure up a perfect image of Shangri-La. Return to Sangla in the evening. Overnight in tents.

Day 09: Sangla-Sarahan

Morning drive to Sarahan (1920 m / 5 hr.) a village surrounded by apple orchards and dominated by SrikhandMahadev peak (5155 m) and is famous for Bhimakali temple and a pheasant breeding centre. Rest of the day birding around the pheasant breeding center.One can expect white-throated fantail, grey-headed canary, yellow-billed blue magpie, common rosefinch, crested bunting, lammergeier, common kestrel, changeable hawak-eagle, common tailorbird etc. Overnight in Hotel Srikhand.

Day 10: Sarahan - Goshaini

Morning we will enjoy birding around Sarahan followed by a drive to Goshani (Tirthan Valley). Upon arrival check int0 the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 11: Tirthan Valley

We will have full day birding in the valley of extreme beauty. The pristine milieu conmprising thick forest, alpine trees and pleasant view of Tirthan valley will give you an unmatched opportunity to enjoy the Birding. Here one can find the yellow-billed blue magpie, brown dipper, Asian brown and paradise flycatcher, jungle myna, Asian barred owlet, common kestrel etc. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 12: Tirthan(Great Himalayan National Park)

Full day briding in great himalanay national park &Bahu and Jibhan. Here we will have an amazing opportunity to explore the wildlife and birdlife together. Over 200 bird species have been recorded in Great Himalayan National Park that includes spectacular pheasants such as Cheer Pheasant, Himalayan Monal, Koklass, Khaleej Pheasant and the endangered Western Tragopan. Other birds are Black and Yellow Grosbeak, Rufous Breasted Accentor, White Collared Black Bird, Spotted Nutcracker, Red-billed Chough, Eurasian Hobby, Himalayan Griffon and the Lammergeier. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 13: Tirthan - Kalka Delhi

Early morning leave for Kalka. Upon arrival transfer to the railway station to board the train for Delhi. Upon arrival at Delhi railway station meet with our representative and transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 14: Delhi - Departure

After breakfast we will have full day guided city sightseeing tour of Old & New Delhi. Later in the evening transfer to the international airport to board the flight for onward destination.
